RESOUNDING BRACES FOR SUAREZ AND MESSI

INTER MIAMI

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi scored two goals each in a 5-0 breeze Saturday over Orlando City SC at Chase Stadium.

Suarez’s goals came in quick succession as the match had barely started, at 4’ and 11’ respectively. Robert Taylor added his own shot in 29’.

Messi opened the scoring in the second half with his own goals within minutes of each other. The former Barca teammates seem to have found their groove in Miami quickly.

Miami dominated shot-taking while Orlando City held most of the possession. It seems the Florida derby will remain one-sided in the Messi era, though the intensity and rough fouling on the pitch keeps it alive and fresh.

Messi now has three goals in as many matches this season. His first goal came off a highly-contested tap back at the goal. A header off a Suarez assist finished scoring. Orlando’s best shots were saved by a spectacular Drake Callender.

This marks the third matchday with MLS replacement refs, as Professional Soccer Referees Association is still on strike demanding fair compensation.

Inter Miami visits Nashville SC Thursday for the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Regular season play resumes Sunday versus CF Montreal.
